This is one of our favourite things to do in Coral Bay, you take a short walk from the town to a local beach where you can see baby sharks swimming in the shallows.

It’s wild how close you get to the baby sharks and rays there!

Usually people don't swim or snorkel so as not to disturb the wildlife. I walked down the beach away from the sharks and went for a swim and they came and swam past me during which was such a nice surprise.

Around the peak area of the baby shark nursery you can stand in the shallows to get a closer look but definitely don't touch anything! (the water is knee-to-waist deep).

Please be very respectful and don't do sudden movements.

Know before going:

  • Best at high tide when sharks come in close for safety from predators

  • About 1.5km walk from the main beach (flat, easy)

  • No signs, walk south past the caravan parks then head toward the water

  • You can also view them from the cliff above if you don’t want to get wet
