SS Mildura Wreck – The wreck of the SS Mildura sits 150 metres out from Lighthouse Bay.

WARNING there is a very strong current here. It can be extremely dangerous at times.

However on a calm day you can snorkel here and learn the history at the same time!

The SS Mildura wreck sits just offshore near Dunes Beach. You can see it from the shore at low tide, and you can snorkel there when the tide is high enough.

Beware of strong currents here if you're keen on snorkelling it. Do not try this in bad weather conditions.

Why it’s worth checking out:

  • Access is via a short drive past Dunes Beach, or walk up from the beach

  • No facilities, no signage, no patrolling. Please use common sense if entering the water

  • Better viewed at low tide, better snorkelled at high tide

  • Easy to miss, pin it on your map before heading out
