Trigg is one of our best picks for a proper beach day with great surfing and snorkelling, without the full-on crowds of Scarbs or Cott.

It's got grassy picnic spots, and one of our favourite coastal walks - the walk from Trigg Beach to Hillary's!

It’s 6km long (a 1.5-hour walk) on top of the hills, as you walk overlooking the beach. Absolutely beautiful.

Know before going:

• Mettam's Pool (just north) is a great snorkel spot

• Summer X Salt markets are held here (Oct–March)

• Don't miss Canteen a little cafe on the beach here and Island Market for something a bit more fancy

• Consistent waves and great surf conditions most days

• Easy to walk from Trigg to Scarborough along the coast

• Limited shade
