This is a protected fish habitat right on the edge of town, with shallow reef pools and calm waters. It's excellent and easy snorkelling, great for kids. We spotted lobsters under the rocks!

There is plenty of parking as it one of the more popular swimming spots. Make sure you get there in the morning as the wind can come up in the afternoon.

Know before going:

• Short drive from Kalbarri town proper

• Free entry

• Best at low tide when the water’s clearer and calmer (check tide chart here)

• Can get choppy if the wind picks up, mornings are better

• Bring reef shoes, the rocks can be sharp

• No lifeguards or shops around, so bring water and shade
