Mount Frankland is one of the best forest lookouts in the region, with easy to access and incredible views over the Walpole Wilderness and beyond.

It’s a great stop even if you don’t want to hike far, but there are two proper trails here if you're up for it:

  • Caldyanup Trail. Beautiful hike along the karri forest and the granite of the mountain. 1,6 km loop, takes 1-2 hours, moderate.

  • Mount Frankland Summit Trail. Difficult but rewarding hike to the Towerman’s Lookout, on a clear day you can even see the Southern Ocean, Stirling Ranges, and Mt Roe! 1.2 km return, takes 2–3 hrs, difficult.

Know before going:

  • Entry is free (Mount Frankland National Park)

  • No pets allowed

  • Toilets available at the carpark
