šŸ› The Children’s Mine – A Playground Like No Other

After exploring the dark, echoing tunnels of the Old Mine, stepping into The Children’s Mine felt like crossing into a whole new world — one filled with laughter, color, and the joyful chaos only kids can create.

It’s not just any playground. It’s the largest in Eastern Finland, and it’s made with heart — every part of it inspired by the mine's history and surroundings. A perfect blend of imagination, play, and local identity.

And our kids? They were in heaven.

šŸƒā€ā™‚ļø Endless Adventures Inside & Out

Outside, the playground stretches out like a mini village — complete with:

  • Pedal car tracks for the speedy drivers

  • A zipline swing that gave out endless squeals of delight

  • Tiny playhouses that became bakeries, homes, and secret clubhouses

  • Classic slides, climbing frames, and all the space you could dream of

Our girls immediately claimed the playhouses as their new real estate, while the boys made a beeline for the mini diggers, scooping sand like little pros.

And just when we thought they might be wearing out — we went inside.

The indoor play area was just as creative, featuring:

  • Sand tools and play zones

  • Mazes to get lost in (and found again)

  • Tunnels, puzzles, and so much more

The best part? It’s great in any weather. Rain or shine, kids can burn energy, stretch their imaginations, and parents can relax (a little).

šŸ’” More Than Just a Playground

What really made the Children’s Mine special wasn’t just its size — it was the thought behind it.
Everything reflected the mine theme, from signage to design, making it feel like a continuation of the day’s adventure, not just a ā€œplay stop.ā€

We all said the same thing as we left:
ā€œIs this the best playground in Finland?ā€
Honestly... maybe it is.

šŸ‘£ A Memory That Stays With You

There’s something magical about watching your kids run wild in a place that’s been built just for them. No screens, no rush — just play, freedom, and space to be little.

So if you’re ever near Outokumpu, make sure you leave time — real time — to visit The Children’s Mine.

Because climbing towers is cool. Underground tunnels are thrilling.
But sometimes, the biggest adventure of all… is just playing.

🧭 What Else Can You Do at the Old Mine?

šŸ’Ž Go underground on a guided tunnel tour — part history lesson, part treasure hunt, and pure excitement for kids and grown-ups alike.
🪨 Visit the rock & crystal museum, filled with gems and minerals that’ll amaze even the tiniest visitors.
šŸŽØ Catch a seasonal art exhibition — you never know who or what you’ll find!
šŸ½ļø Refuel at the mine restaurant, cozy and family-friendly.

šŸ‘£ Climb up to Mine Tower.
