Reykjavík's oldest swimming pool, located in the city center. Built in 1937 and renovated in 2017, it offers both indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs, saunas, and a cold tub. With its geothermal heating, Sundhöllin provides a spa-like experience right in the heart of the city. Swimming pools are an integral part of Icelandic culture and has been ever since people started gathering in natural hot springs in the past. The swimming pools in Iceland is really the easiest way to immerse yourself in the local culture. It's where people meet an talk about everything from the weather to politics.

QUICK NOTES:

  • What it is: The oldest swimming pool in Reykjavík.

  • Best season: Any! Hot tubs are the perfect way to get warm during winter.

  • Nice to know: It has been renovated a lot but make sure you go to the inside pool too for some real retro vibes (there's also a fun diving board there). Usually you can rent swim wear and a towel at the swimming pool. Admission is FREE for kids.
