The Commonwealth Farm in Þjórsárdalur (Thjorsardalur) is a reconstructed farm based on the excavated farmhouse Stöng, buried under volcanic tephra in an eruption in 1104. It's a unique experience giving you the chance to travel 900 years back in time to see how people used to live in Iceland. Located just a minute away from the main road, the farm provides a fascinating glimpse into the life of the people who lived here almost a millennium ago. Usually open every day from mid-June to late September, the Commonwealth Farm offers discounted rates for youth visitors under 12 years old.
