Waterfall

Dettifoss is an iconic waterfall in North Iceland and the most powerful one in Europe. You can see it from both the west side and the east. On the west side, there are minimal facilities including a pit toilet and viewing-platform. From the east, you have a few different spots to view it from with one being very close to the waterfall so you can really feel the power! My personal favourite is the east side (pictures taken there).

QUICK NOTES:

  • What it is: The most powerful waterfall in Europe (don't google it too thoroughly), located in North Iceland.

  • Best season: Any (but the most power is usually late spring, summer and fall).

  • Best time of day: Any.

  • Nice to know: You can see it both from the west and east side. My favourite is the east side but each to his own! On the east side you have a few different options so walk a little bit!
