The Gelmerbahn funicular in Switzerland is a thrilling ride that takes passengers up to an artificial lake at 1,850 meters above sea level. Built almost a century ago for construction purposes, it now offers breathtaking views of the Bernese Oberland. With an incline of 47°, it's one of Europe's steepest open funicular railways. Tickets can be bought online or on-site, and the funicular operates from June to mid-October. I recommend getting a ticket in advance, because you have to choose time slots. If you're late to the booking or book on site, you're likely to wait for quite some time until you can get on. You also can book your timeslot to go down in advance. As long as there is space, you can go down also at another time.
