The Mt Amos Lookout is a steep and strenuous hike, offering incredible panoramic views over the stunning coastal vistas of the Freycinet National Park. Hikers of all skill levels will enjoy climbing the bare granite rock face for an unforgettable sunrise view. An early start is recommended to take in the golden hues of Wineglass Bay at dawn, but hikers should also prepare for inclement weather by packing a rain jacket, warm clothing, and proper footwear. The trail features reflective yellow markers along the path and sloped granite rock scrambles, as well as lush bushlands and native wildlife along the way. With its fair share of challenge and reward, Mt Amos is definitely one of the must-do hikes in Tasmania! One thing to be aware of is that if there has been rain within 24-48hrs of when you want to hike it is likely the rock will be too slippery to walk. Because the hike is over smooth slab boulders as soon as it gets wet is it incredibly slippery and dangerous, so please ensure the track is dry before you try.
