This truly is the perfect little mini-getaway for couples traveling together or families with children who want to combine nature, comfort, and that cosy camping feeling. All just a short stroll from the charming town of Mariager.

The new luxury shelters at Mariager Camping truly live up to their name and so does the rest of the campsite. The two shelters are beautifully placed between the campsite and the motorhome area, front row to the stunning Mariager Fjord, where you can watch both sunrise and sunset shimmer across the water. It doesn’t get much more peaceful than that.

We were two adults and two children sharing one shelter (the two “sofas” easily transform into a large bed). We spent a wonderful 24 hours slowing down and enjoying the simple things: cooking over the campfire, swimming in the fjord (walk to the end of the campsite where you’ll find a lovely new bathing jetty), playing at the playground, and finishing the day with ice cream in the town square.

Packing tip: The only things you need to bring are a sheet and duvet/sleeping bag (unless you choose to rent them on site). Everything else is ready when you arrive: a sack of firewood, power bank, lamp, campfire equipment, tableware, water container, and more. Easy, relaxed, and ready for hygge.

Mariager Camping (Anni & Kenneth’s) Best INSIDER TIPS
🌿 A beautiful viewpoint: Just under 1 km from the campsite you’ll find the most wonderful scenic spot at Sukkertoppen. From here, you can peacefully take in the views across the fjord and the rolling hills on the opposite shore. Bring a coffee and stay awhile.

🌊 Best swimming spot: The brand-new bathing jetty located right by the campsite. Easy, calm, and perfect for both morning dips and evening swims.

☕ Coffee stop: Just a few steps away you’ll find the campsite’s own popular coffee bar, Jensens Kaffebar, serving proper barista coffee. Otherwise, we recommend Cafe Salt - only 300 meters from the site, beautifully located right by the water.

🥾 Hiking: The certified hiking route "Mariager Loop" is simply stunning. What makes it extra special is that it takes you both along the fjord, through the town, and past several attractions. Many guests choose to split it into two sections and since the campsite sits right in the middle of the 12 km route, it’s easy to do.

☔ Rainy day recommendation: Definitely visit Mariager Saltcenter. Or take a walk in Alstrup Krat, a dense and beautiful beech forest that feels especially magical when it’s rainy and a little windy.
