Two children and two mums on a little September adventure to this truly unique place to stay (September 2025). First of all... The treehouse is built on top of the family’s home. But it’s not something you see, feel or notice once you’re up there. In the treehouse, you’re completely surrounded by treetops with the most beautiful view over the forest and Langå Lake.
Everything is decorated in a simple, calm and thoughtful way and nature is given centre
stage through the large panoramic windows.
Our time was filled with board games, playing at the playground by Langå Lake (just outside the door), and lots of cosy sauna moments. This is the kind of place that calls you when you’re in need of a true getaway - where you can simply be together and not feel the need to rush off anywhere else.
In the morning, a little squirrel stopped by just outside the window - the children were beyond excited!

The Funky Forest (Mette & Martin’s) Best Insider Tips
🌿 Langå Lake (right outside the house) and Langå Oak Forest (2 km away), located along the Gudenå River is so many beautiful spots with access to the river.
Busbjerg (Ulstrup - approx. 8 km away) is a lovely natural area with a large hill offering
wonderful views. From mid-July, the hillside is filled with wild blueberries ready to be picked.
🛶 Canoe trips on the Gudenå River, which runs right through Langå (rentals available at Outdoor Bjerringbro).
👙 The closest swimming spot is the bathing jetty at Langå Camping (swimming in the Gudenå River). Please note that there is a current in the river, but near the jetty you can swim where the water is calmer. You can also swim at the small “beach” in Stevnstrup - a little sandy stretch with shallow water where children can paddle safely. If you prefer lake swimming, I recommend Fussingø Lake.
🥙 Rosengårdens Farm Shop for takeaway.
👨🍳 Restaurant Fru Larsen in Laurbjerg for a more high-end gastronomic experience.
🥾 Beautiful walking routes along the Gudenå towpath towards either Randers or Silkeborg.🧗 If you’re into climbing, the outdoor climbing park in Randers is a great option (about 10 minutes’ drive from here).
☔️ On rainy days: The Energy Museum in Bjerringbro, Randers Rainforest, Water & Wellness Randers, or Museum Østjylland (located above Randers Library).
