"In 2022, Helle & Claus traded city life in Copenhagen for a new chapter on North Bornholm. Sjælegård Country Lodge is their dream brought to life - a place where guests stay in beautiful holiday homes surrounded by open and wild nature. Chickens peck around the courtyard, grazing animals help nurture biodiversity, and the pace is wonderfully slow. Welcome to Sjælegård." Helle & Claus
I always melt a little inside when I see traditional half-timbered buildings like these. At Sjælegård, you settle into newly renovated houses where old beams and modern comforts blend seamlessly, creating a warm, homely atmosphere that instantly makes you exhale.
At the same time, you’re stepping right into Helle and Claus’ ambitious rewilding project. On 26 hectares of former farmland, they are creating wilder, richer nature and as a guest, you become part of that journey. Supporting rewilding while experiencing it up close feels both meaningful and inspiring. Don’t miss a guided walk with Helle around the vast nature grounds - it adds such depth to your stay.
For us, one of the most special moments was wandering across the fields with the boys, meeting ponies and cows along the way. What started a little cautiously quickly turned into confident little pats and quiet conversations. Truly magical to witness.
