Fantastic hike!! A must do NZ hike, approx 1hr return (Best at low tide)

This Trail Head is a short and easy walk that leads to the coast and a lighthouse in the beautiful Tutukaka area of Northland. It's a great option for families and offers stunning views of the surrounding coastline. The track takes you through pōhutukawa trees planted by the community, down onto rocks, and up through bush with cabbage trees and flax. At the end, you'll be rewarded with outstanding views from the Tutukaka lighthouse perched on the end of the headland. Just remember to watch out for cliffs and supervise children along the way!

Note: Access to the reserve at the north head of Tutukaka Harbour is via a right of way, which is sign posted off Matapouri Road 400 m past the Oceans Resort Hotel. This road, Landowners Lane, is a private access marked by a ‘Private Road’ sign. The public only have right of passage – respect other people’s privacy.
