Just north of Warkworth, a short stroll takes you through an amazing area to a waterfall that not many people know about.
Moirs Hill Walkway leads you to Pōhuehue Falls, a serene 10‑metre cascade tucked into native bush. The walk itself is absolutely stunning however the viewing platform for the waterfall is a top down view only which isn't too great (best viewed from the base after rain).
🚶 ~600 m return, around 10-15 minutes from car park to waterfall lookout.
🥾 Mild downhill to the viewing platform, with some stairs and uneven sections
🌿 Forest path follows the Pohuehue Stream and is lined with regenerating native forest
🚫 Dogs are not permitted to protect kauri and native flora
⚠️ If you want to see the waterfall from a different angle, you'll have to walk down a sketchy "path" (very slippery when wet)
Tip: If you want a longer walk you can try the "Beverly Price Loop Track" which is approx 2hours/3.8km (Anti Clockwise).
Reviews:
"The walk to the waterfall was one of the most scenic we experienced. The waterfall view from the platform was okay, but nothing exceptional. If you want a good view, you have to take the trail that isn't there down to the water." - David, Google
