Beautiful waterfall! Currently closed to manage kauri die back. Worth a visit when it re-opens

Mokoroa Falls is a cool waterfall tucked away between Muriwai and the Waitākere Ranges in Auckland's west coast, New Zealand. Known as Wairere by the Te Kawerau ā Maki iwi, this spot has some traditional Maori history behind it. The name "Mokoroa" actually means "long lizard," inspired by a taniwha (mythical creature) named Te Mokoroa. The pool below the falls was once called Te Rua ō Te Mokoroa, or Mokoroa's lair. Due to kauri dieback, the Goldie Bush Scenic Reserve where the falls are located has been closed since 2018 for conservation efforts. So, if you're planning a visit, make sure to check if it's open first!
