Forest Pools are a hidden gem in the Waipapa River, located right on the edge of Puketui Forest. You can easily access the river and its swimmable pools directly from State Highway 1 via Forest Road, about 10 km northwest of Okaihu. While the old campsite marked on the Topo Map is no longer in use, the grassy area across from the toilet makes for an ideal picnic spot. 🍉🧺 Whether you're swimming or just enjoying the peaceful surroundings, it's a great place to unwind! 🌿

'Lovely dog-friendly spot, you can have a refreshing swim in the pools with crystalline water. Some time is too busy because it is too close to town, so always keep your stuff locked. I never had an issue, but just in case. Dogs are just allowed in the picnic area, not into the tracks that start in there'
