Epic beach / rock cut out out to the right. Cliff jumping (at the right tide) and a generally awesome locals beach spot.

Te Arai Beach Park is a hidden gem in the Wellsford area, offering stunning white sandy beaches and great surf conditions. Located at the furthest north-east point, it's a favorite spot for surfers and beach lovers alike. The campground behind the sand dunes is perfect for a relaxing getaway, but make sure your vehicle is self-contained to stay there. Don't forget to respect the special bird and plant species that call Te Arai home by taking only photos and leaving only footprints. Just remember, no dogs allowed!

Great Review:

'There's a 5.6km gravel road before reaching the destination.

✅ White sandy beach ✅ Surfing ✅ Toilet ✅ Walks (Te Arai Regional Park)

✅ Free Parking ✅ Great view ✅ Picnic tables

❌ Rubbish bins (please take your rubbish home) ❌ Shower (we haven't seen any)

❌ Dogs not allowed (restricted access in the Quarry) ❌ No cafes or restaurants nearby

TIPS: 1. Te Arai Quarry is located on the right side of the beach when facing the parking area. It's a good swimming spot for those who are looking for calmer water.

2. Bring your rubbish bag, food and water. 3. Go there early. Summary: Great view and perfect water temperature in summer (Te Arai Quarry). Recommended!' - Melissa, Google

Note: While this guide highlights amazing hidden gems across New Zealand, it's essential to do your own extra research before visiting. Always check tide times, weather conditions, and ensure you are water-safe. Some locations may have challenging terrain or be subject to changing conditions. Be mindful of local regulations, respect nature, and and leave footprints only. Stay safe and enjoy responsibly!
