Rauðfeldsgjá Gorge, also known as Red-Cloak Rift, is a stunning canyon located in Botnsfjall Mountain on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in Iceland. Visitors can hike up to and explore inside the gorge during the summer months. According to local folklore, the gorge is linked to a saga about a half-giant guardian spirit of the peninsula. To reach Rauðfeldsgjá, drive north from Reykjavík for about two and a half hours, following Route 1 and then Route 54 towards Snæfellsjökull glacier. It's a bit of a climb to get inside the gorge, so make sure you're prepared with waterproof gear and sturdy shoes. Don't forget to check out nearby attractions like Snæfellsjökull glacier and National Park while you're in the area!
