Tsutenkaku is a compact observation tower located in the Shinsekai area and is one of Osaka’s classic landmarks.
It’s not a place you need to spend a long time, but it’s worth stopping by if you want to experience a very old-school Osaka atmosphere.

Inside the tower, the gold decorations and retro design give it a slightly nostalgic feel. From the observation deck, you can enjoy views over Osaka, especially nice around sunset or in the evening when the city lights come on.

One of the highlights is the Billiken statue.
It’s said that rubbing Billiken’s feet brings good luck, so don’t forget to do it while you’re there — it’s a small but fun local tradition.

Tsutenkaku is easy to combine with a walk around Shinsekai, where you’ll find casual restaurants and a lively, local vibe.

Tip: This is best as a short stop rather than a main attraction — around 30–45 minutes is plenty.
