Herðubreið, also known as "The Queen of Icelandic Mountains," is a striking tuya located in the Highlands of Iceland. This distinctive mountain, with its steep and unstable sides, was first officially climbed in 1908 despite centuries of knowledge about its existence. It is a basaltic central subglacial volcano that formed during the last ice age, and its beautiful shape has earned it the title of Iceland's favorite mountain. Nearby lies an oasis called Herðubreiðarlindir, where outcasts once sought refuge. In 2019, Herðubreið became part of Vatnajökull National Park, adding to its allure as a must-see destination for nature lovers and adventurers alike.
