Built in 1884 by rancher George W. Call to serve his own family and neighboring children, the charming one-room Fort Ross schoolhouse originally stood on the bluff behind the Call family home at what is now Fort Ross State Historic Park. Decades later, it was relocated to the North Meadow of Stillwater Cove Regional Park to ensure its preservation and remain accessible to visitors.

Today, the schoolhouse is a historical highlight accessible via the Stillwater Cove Canyon Trail through redwood a forest from the park’s meadow area. Though it is preserved mostly for exterior viewing, it adds a tangible connection to the area’s educational and ranching past amid the tranquil setting of forest and coastline.
