Get ready for one of the most rewarding short hikes in Waterton. The trail up to Bear’s Hump is a local favorite and often called the fastest hike for the best views. The trail climbs about 2.8 kilometres round trip (1.8 miles) and takes roughly an hour, but the payoff is incredible. From the top you get sweeping panoramic views over the Waterton townsite, the bright blue lakes, and the Rocky Mountains stretching south into Montana. I absolutely loved this hike — it’s a bit of a steep climb, but every step feels worth it once you reach the summit. Since many of the trees burned in past wildfires, the trail is now fully exposed, so you’ll be in the sun the whole way up. But with those open views and that big sky around you, it really feels like a little slice of heaven.
