Storm Mountain Lodge & Cabins

Storm Mountain Lodge is one of the most unique stays you can find in the Rockies — and another place I used to work at and genuinely loved.

Tucked away in the forest between Banff and Lake Louise, it feels completely removed from the busy towns, giving you that true “escape into the mountains” experience.

The cabins date back to the 1920s, with restored log interiors and wood-burning fireplaces that make it feel cozy and authentic rather than polished and modern.

One thing to know: the cabins don’t have kitchens, so you’ll need to plan to eat at the on-site restaurant — but honestly, that’s part of the experience. The lodge is known for its all-Canadian cuisine, and it’s a great way to end the day after being outside.

You’re surrounded by wilderness here, with easy access to hiking, wildlife spotting, and scenic drives right from your doorstep. It’s quiet, a bit remote, and intentionally unplugged — which is exactly why people love it.

If you’re looking to fully disconnect and experience a more traditional mountain stay, this place is really special.
