Neuschwanstein Castle is the kind of fairy-tale fortress that looks like it jumped straight out of a storybook—towering spires, nestled in the Bavarian Alps, and seriously stunning views all around. Fun fact: it actually inspired Disney’s Cinderella Castle!
We didn’t get a chance to tour the inside on this trip. From what we heard, the inside might not be super interesting for little kids anyway—plus, you have to book tours at least a month in advance if you want to go inside, so plan ahead if that’s on your must-do list.
Getting up to the castle is pretty flexible, which is great for families. You can either take a bus (round-trip tickets are about €5 for adults, €2 for kids 7-11, free for kids 6 & under) or hike up if your crew is feeling adventurous. Once you’re at the top, the outside grounds are stroller-friendly, and there are buggy lockers if you decide to tour inside and want to leave the stroller behind.
Don’t miss Marienbrücke—it’s the best spot for jaw-dropping views of the castle! It can get crowded on the bridge, so we recommend not bringing a stroller across. A baby carrier makes it way easier to enjoy the view with little ones.
At the top, you’ll also find light snacks and souvenir shops—perfect for grabbing a treat or a keepsake before heading back down.
Even just seeing the castle from the outside and soaking up the views gave us such a memorable experience—it’s definitely worth the visit, stroller and all!
