This was one of my very first hikes in Japan, and it left quite an impression. The final ascent, where you climb using a 20-meter-long chain, was both thrilling and incredibly fun. I enjoyed it so much that I actually climbed back down just to do it again! There are a few other steep sections along the trail that require chains, adding a bit of adventure, but for the most part, the trail is a peaceful forest path.

Accessibility:

• By Car:
  Drive to Ohira Kogen Parking Lot, which is located near the entrance of the trail.

• By Public Transport:
  From Enzan Station (JR Chuo Line), take a bus bound for Nishizawa Gorge or Odarumi Pass. This is a seasonal service, so it’s important to check the schedule ahead of time.

Hike Details:

• Distance: Approx. 7 km (round trip)

• Duration: 5~6 hours

• Incline: About 700 meters

• Difficulty: Moderate – While most of the trail is manageable, there are some rocky and steep sections near the summit that require scrambling and caution.

Highlights of the Hike:

• Panoramic Views from the Summit: Once at the top, you’ll be greeted with stunning 360-degree views, including Mt. Fuji on clear days.

• Lush Forests: The lower sections of the trail are surrounded by beautiful forests, providing shade and a peaceful atmosphere.

• Rocky Scramble: Near the summit, the trail turns into a more technical climb with a rocky scramble that adds a sense of adventure.
