A classic! The Lake Louise Lakeshore Trail💙
I’ve walked it with friends and family more times than I can count, and its great in every season. A beautiful, scenic shoreline stroll with that unreal turquoise water. Not to mention the towering views of Mount Victoria, Lefroy, Fairview, and Mount Aberdeen surrounding you, which makes you feel so small!
Yes, it gets VERY busy, especially in summer. But, the crowds thin out quickly once you pass the front section around the hotel and start making your way to the back of the lake. The perfect leg stretch lol. I always take visiting friends and family here, as you cant come to Banff and not see Lake Louise! It also makes a great warm-up before tackling the bigger hikes in the area.

🛶 CANOE RENTALS
For a fun splurge, rent a canoe from the lakeshore boathouse (typically open from late spring to early fall) and paddle right on that turquoise water! Canoes fit up to 3 people. As of 2025, prices were $160 (+GST) for 30 minutes or $170 (+GST) for 60 minutes. Pricey, yes, but a memorable way to soak in the views from the water.
(Please note: The Boathouse only accepts card payment.)

🏰 FAIRMONT CHÂTEAU LAKE LOUISE
A historic lakeside hotel set on the turquoise shores of Lake Louise, with front-row views of the Victoria Glacier. It’s a year-round base for canoeing in summer, skating in winter, and nearby trails. For more details & booking links, check out it's pin on my map.
ㅤ
⛸ WINTER SKATING
In winter, a spot is set up on the lake for skating with a maintained area and the option to rent skates. So you can easily get out on the ice without bringing your own gear. Conditions can still change day to day though, especially with weather swings.
Follow posted signs and stay within cleared areas. Check daily conditions or ask staff if you’re unsure, skate with a buddy, and keep it sensible. You are responsible for your own safety.
