This 2-mile loop from Cookley Village Hall is a proper scenic walk that is perfect for little bikes and pushchairs. There's one stile to get over and a couple of steps up to the bridge at the end but we managed fine with some bikes and a buggy.

Park for free at Cookley Village Hall, where there’s a brilliant little play park with climbing frames, slides down the hillside and swings. If your kids are into bikes or scooters, there’s also a BMX track and a skate park right nearby but we saved all that for after the walk!

Head down the old, quiet road which has almost no traffic due to it being abandoned after a small landslide into the canal, so it's ideal for little legs. It leads to the canal where you’ll join the towpath for a peaceful stroll back towards Cookley. It’s flat, easy-going and perfect for buggies and bikes.

The canal stretch is really peaceful and scenic with large sandstone cliffs, some lovely countryside views and loads of greenery especially in Spring/Summer.

  • Distance: About 2 miles (circular)

  • Parking: Free at Cookley Village Hall

  • Extras: Play area, skate park, BMX track, picnic benches

  • Pushchair-Friendly: Yep, especially along the canal (just one stile and a couple of steps to manage)

This route’s a nice little mix of active and chilled, and it’s great if you want something low-effort but still fun for everyone.
