The Baumkronenweg in Waldkirch is such a fun and unique way to explore the Black Forest with kids—it lets you walk above the trees on a treetop path with sweeping views of the forest all around you. It’s peaceful, beautiful, and feels like a little adventure for the whole family.
The walkway is stroller-friendly, though we found a baby carrier easier if you plan to stop at the lookout tower since that part has stairs. Kids will love spotting birds and learning from the little info signs about the plants and animals that call the forest home—it’s educational without feeling like “school.”
🎟 Prices: Adults around €9, kids 6–14 are €6, and under 6 are free. Family tickets are available, which makes it budget-friendly.
🚻 Facilities: Bathrooms and a small café are near the entrance, plus plenty of space for a snack break.
🚗 Parking is convenient and close by.
If you’re traveling with little ones, it’s an easy half-day stop that mixes fresh air with a bit of adventure. Bonus: there’s also a forest playground right by the entrance where kids can climb, slide, and burn off extra energy before heading out.
