Vintgar Gorge is a narrow, wooden-boardwalk gorge just a short drive from Bled, created by the Radovna River, one of the most beautiful Alpine rivers in the area. The 1.6km walk through the gorge takes you across bridges and along boardwalks and you should plan about 1 to 1.5 hours for the walk there and back. Expect uneven, sometimes slippery planks and handrails, so wear sturdy shoes, keep kids close, and know strollers or wheelchairs will struggle. There is a small entrance fee and limited paid parking at the trailhead, and the site can close in winter or after heavy rain, so go early to beat the crowds and catch better light for photos. Bring water, a light jacket (it can be cooler in the gorge), and your camera; the final waterfall and river views are the payoff.
