Located just outside the village of Wetton in the Peak District you'll find Thor's Cave - a natural cavern set into the steep limestone crag with a magnificent arch entrance from which you will be treated to stunning views over the surrounding countryside.
The cave must be accessed on foot which is around a 30 minute walk from Wetton Car Park (DE6 2AF). Whilst the route is fairly well signposted and not too long, there are parts which are quite steep and slippery in wet weather so do take care and wear proper shoes.
Now for a little history on the cave; in the past, excavations have revealed human and animal remains, stone tools, pottery, and bronze items, indicating occupation from the Palaeolithic period to the Roman era. The cave has also been featured in films and music videos, adding to its allure as a popular tourist spot.
And for the experienced rock climbers out there, this location has long been a popular spot amongst the climbing community and one worth checking out if it's not already on your radar.
