What you’ll do

Spend four days exploring contemporary art in the Seto Inland Sea, based in Takamatsu with ferries out to the art islands of Teshima and Naoshima.

You'll start on Teshima, visiting installations like the Teshima Art Museum and Teshima Yokoo House that blur the line between architecture and landscape.

The next day takes you to Naoshima for the Benesse Art Site, spending the afternoon moving between Tadao Ando-designed museums and staying the night at Benesse House to experience the museum after hours when the day visitors have gone.

The following morning you'll explore the art house projects scattered through Naoshima's old fishing village before ferrying back to Takamatsu to stroll the covered shopping arcades.

On your last day, you'll visit Ritsurin Garden, head up to Mt. Yashima and the open-air museum at Shikoku Mura, then lunch on oysters in the town of Sanuki before one more pass through Takamatsu's streets.
