What you’ll do

The most popular spots in Iceland are popular for a reason. On this five day South Coast adventure you’ll be sure not to miss any of those but also see many hidden gems along the way. No need for a 4x4 vehicle (but during winter I always recommend a 4x4).

I also included some accommodation and food options along the way but feel free to adjust those according to your needs.

We all like to travel at different speeds so don’t worry if you can’t make it for all the stops. I put all my itineraries together as an inspiration with the idea that you don’t have to rush between spots but you still have reasonable time at each and every one. Also, during winter we have way less daylight so you might want to prioritise the spots you really like to see.

On your first day you’ll be doing the Golden Circle with a few extras. We all travel on our own speed so don’t worry if you won’t make it for all the stops. The itinerary is just for inspiration so prioritise what you’re most interested in.

I also suggested some accommodation and food options along the way but feel free to adjust those according to your needs! I’ll add a note where ever you might want to make a reservation beforehand so go through the itinerary as soon as you can before the trip.

The first 2-3 days are intentionally more packed than the last two so you'll have some slack to work with and adjust your speed of travel.

If you have time and want to relax a bit you can choose between Laugarvatn Fontana (more fancy and expensive) or a classic Icelandic swimming pool (the cheaper option). Both are super nice and simply depend on your budget!
