This little hike is one of my favorites when I want some awesome views for little effort.

The walk can be accessed from Mt Donald McLean Road, off Whatipu road. From the car park, the trail goes up through native forest to the top of one of the ancient volcanic peak remnants, about 390 metres above sea level.

From there you'll be rewarded with stunning views over the Waitākere ranges.
