A hidden gem where you can go spotting glow worms for free. Remember to bring a torch or headlamp and wear some shoes and pants you don't mind getting wet.

After parking in the reserve carpark off Waipu Caves road, head straight across the reserve and you'll find the entrance to the caves. Once in the cave, head along the stream bed to the back of the first cave. Here you can turn off your torch and let your eyes adjust to see the glowworms. You can then head further into the cave to see more gloworms.

For safety, do not enter the caves during or after heavy rain.
