The Sidelhorn is one of the most rewarding panoramic viewpoints in the Grimsel region. Rising above the Grimsel Pass, it offers an incredible 360° view of the Bernese Alps, the Rhone Glacier, and the turquoise mountain lakes below. The hike starts right at the top of the Grimsel Pass and winds steadily up to the 2,764-meter summit, a route that’s not too long, but consistently uphill.

Along the way, you’ll pass alpine flowers, rugged rocks, and, with a bit of luck, you might spot ibexes or marmots among the slopes. The higher you climb, the more the landscape opens up, revealing breathtaking views in every direction.

My personal tip: Visit on a clear afternoon or evening when the light turns golden, the surrounding lakes, like Grimselsee and Oberaarsee, reflect the warm tones beautifully.
