Triftbrücke is a stunning suspension bridge spanning the Trift Glacier, nestled in the heart of the Swiss Alps. At approximately 170 meters long and hanging high above the glacier, it offers thrilling panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, valleys, and the turquoise Triftsee below.
The easiest and most popular access is via the Triftbahn cable car from Gadmen, which takes you most of the way up and saves considerable hiking effort. From the cable car station, it’s a moderately steep hike to the bridge and lake. For very adventurous hikers, it is also possible to start from the valley floor, but this requires a long and strenuous hike.
My personal tip: Take the first cable car in the morning to enjoy the bridge and lake with fewer crowds. Summer is ideal for photographing the vibrant turquoise Triftsee and the glacier’s rugged textures. In autumn, the surrounding peaks and forests turn golden and reddish, creating a magical atmosphere with mist sometimes rising off the lake, perfect for photography and capturing the true alpine mood.
