Engstlensee is a picturesque mountain lake nestled in the Swiss Alps, known for its stunning natural beauty. Located at an elevation of about 1,800 meters, it offers breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and lush landscapes.
Engstlensee is a beautiful alpine lake located above Innertkirchen in the Bernese Alps, surrounded by dramatic peaks and pristine nature. The lake reflects the surrounding mountains perfectly on calm days, making it a prime spot for photography and relaxation.
The hike to the lake starts from Engstlenalp, which is easily accessible by car via a mountain road, making the lake reachable for most visitors without a long trek.
My personal tip: In summer, rent a small rowboat at the hotel reception of Hotel Engstlenalp and paddle out onto the lake, it’s an incredible way to experience the peaceful surroundings and capture unique photography angles. If you stay until early morning, you can also catch the soft light reflecting on the water and, on lucky days, a thin layer of mist rising off the lake.
