The Boots? Dirty. The beers? Deleted. Everything else? Red. The only thing dustier than Pannawonica would be our heads in the morning morning, but my golly Pannawonica Rodeo was a HOOT!

It's just one of those events that screams Australian outback. Held annually in early September, this is where everyone comes together to celebrate everything rugged and wild about life in the Pilbara. You’ll see everything from bull riding to barrel racing, to a big live concert, all set against the backdrop of the red dirt and big blue skies—it doesn’t get more Aussie than this.

Tickets are affordable, you can camp overnight (we did the main 2 nights) and Pannawonica itself is about 2.5 hours drive from Karratha. Plus, the drive through the Pilbara landscape is a vibe in itself.

It’s not just about the rodeo, though—there’s live music, food stalls, and a great community feel that makes it easy to let your hair down and enjoy the yeeha vibes. Whether you’re here for the action in the ring or just to soak up the atmosphere (or drinks), the Pannawonica Rodeo is one of those events that leaves you with a massive smile, a dusty pair of boots, and a proper dose of outback magic.
