The Lacs de Fenêtre are a series of alpine lakes located in the Val Ferret in the Valais, near the Italian border. Surrounded by rugged peaks and alpine meadows, these lakes offer stunning reflections and a serene atmosphere, making them perfect for photography and peaceful hikes.

The trail starts from a parking area or Postauto stop in Val Ferret and follows a well-marked route through alpine pastures and rocky terrain. The hike is moderate, with a few steeper sections, but rewards you with panoramic views stretching all the way to the Chamonix Alps and the turquoise lakes below.

My personal tip: Visit during golden hour or early evening, the soft light on the lakes and surrounding peaks creates a magical atmosphere. If you’re lucky, you might spot ibex or marmots along the trail, adding a touch of alpine wildlife to your experience.
