What you’ll do

This 3-week itinerary includes all of our favourite stops from Perth to Broome. The stretch of coastline along Western Australia’s north-west is absolutely epic, making for a road trip packed with jaw-dropping landscapes, unique wildlife encounters, and endless photo opportunities. From dramatic gorges and red dirt outback to turquoise beaches and hidden swimming holes, every stop along the way is unforgettable.

The drive from Perth to Broome covers roughly 2,200 kilometres. While it could technically be done in a few long days, breaking it into smaller sections allows you to soak in the incredible landscapes, spot wildlife, and really enjoy the adventure.

When is the best time to visit Broome?

The ideal time to visit Broome and the Kimberley region is during the dry season, from May to October. During these months, the weather is warm, sunny, and perfect for exploring the coastline, gorges, and national parks. Swimming, snorkeling, and other water activities are at their best, and wildlife is easier to spot.

The wet season, from November to April, brings heavy rains, high humidity, and the occasional cyclone, making some roads and attractions inaccessible. While the landscapes are lush and dramatic during this time, the conditions can make long road trips challenging.
